Leverage
Open positions several times larger than your cash on selected Polymarket markets — powered by Dimes.
Leverage lets you multiply your exposure on selected prediction markets. You put up a portion of the position as margin, Dimes lends the rest, and the full position is opened on the real Polymarket order book. A 5× position moves five times as fast as a regular one — in both directions.
Leverage amplifies losses as well as gains. If the market moves far enough against you, your position is liquidated and you can lose your entire margin. Never risk more than you can afford to lose.
Where to find it
- The Leverage hub — open Leverage from the navigation to browse every market currently accepting leveraged positions, split into Sports and Crypto sections. Cards show the maximum multiplier available (e.g. "5.0x").
- The betslip — on leveraged markets, pick Leverage as the order type to open a leveraged position instead of a regular buy.
- Your portfolio — a dedicated Leverage tab tracks all your open and closed leveraged positions.
Opening a position
Pick a market and side
Choose an outcome on any leveraged market. Leverage is available for opening positions only — you always buy to open.
Set your margin and multiplier
Enter the amount of cash to put up and pick a multiplier with the slider — from 2× up to the market's maximum. Margin comes from your regular Preddy balance.
Review the quote
The betslip shows a live preview: your entry price, liquidation price, opening fee, and payout — what you receive if your outcome wins, after the borrowed funds are repaid.
Confirm
Place the order. If the market moves while you review, you'll be asked to confirm the updated quote before anything is placed.
Key numbers
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Margin | Your own cash in the position. The most you can lose. |
| Leverage | Position size relative to margin. $100 at 5× opens a $500 position. |
| Liquidation price | If the market price reaches this level, the position is closed and your margin is lost. |
| Liquidation buffer | How much room is left before liquidation — 100% at entry, 0% at liquidation. |
| Payout | What you receive if your outcome wins, after the loan is repaid. |
Managing positions
The Leverage tab in your portfolio shows every position with live value, profit/loss, liquidation buffer, and a full history of everything that happened to it — opening, any deleveraging, and the final result.
- Buy More — add to an existing position through the betslip.
- Sell — close a position at the current market price. The loan is repaid from the proceeds and the rest goes back to your balance.
- Position details — open any position to see its price chart with your entry and exits marked.
Deleveraging and liquidation
Dimes actively manages risk on open positions:
- Deleveraging — when risk spikes (a game kicks off, prices move sharply), part of your position may be sold to reduce the multiplier. Your remaining position stays open, and every deleveraging event is listed in the position's history.
- Liquidation — if the price reaches your liquidation price, the position is closed entirely.
Keep an eye on the liquidation buffer, especially around live events — sports markets can move fast once a game starts.
Settlement
Settlement is automatic. When a market resolves, the loan is repaid and your winnings are credited straight to your balance — there is nothing to claim.
Availability
Leverage is offered on markets Dimes accepts, and availability changes in real time:
- Often only one side of a market is available for leveraged opens — the betslip tells you when your side is closed and lets you switch.
- Maximum multipliers and position sizes vary per market and can change while you're looking at the quote.
- Existing positions can always be closed, even if the market no longer accepts new leveraged opens.
Fees
- Opening fee — charged when the position opens; shown in the betslip before you confirm.
- Funding fee — a small daily charge on the borrowed amount while the position is open.
- Liquidation fee — charged only if the position is liquidated.
Fees are set by Dimes — see their docs for current rates.
Slippage and partial fills
The betslip settings have a dedicated Leverage tab:
- Slippage tolerance — the maximum price move you accept between quote and execution (1–10%).
- Partial fills — allow an order to open partially when full size can't be filled, with a minimum fill you choose.
