Detailed Guide
Automatically mirror the trades of top traders on Preddy.
Copytrading lets you follow any trader and automatically replicate their trades in real time. When they buy, you buy. When they sell, you sell — hands-free.
How it works
Pick a trader
Browse traders on Preddy and find someone whose performance you want to follow.
Create a strategy
Configure how you want to copy their trades — set your budget, copy size, and any filters.
Trades happen automatically
Preddy monitors the trader's activity and executes matching trades on your behalf, 24/7.
Every copied trade is logged in your activity feed with full transparency — what was traded, at what price, and the resulting profit or loss.
Where the settings live
The strategy builder puts the decisions you always make up front and keeps the rest behind Advanced settings.
| Group | Section | Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Main | Who to Copy | The trader's wallet and a name for the strategy. |
| Main | Buy Size | Buy mode and min/max buy size. |
| Main | Sell Size | Sell mode and max sell per trade. |
| Main | Budget | Total and daily budget, auto-pause. |
| Advanced | Triggers | Trader buy/sell trigger and entry price. |
| Advanced | Exposure | Per-market, per-outcome and open-market caps. |
| Advanced | Price Protection | Max buy/sell price move. |
| Advanced | Execution Rules | Partial fills and retries. |
| Advanced | Market Scope | Categories, volume, liquidity and crypto timing. |
| Advanced | System | Fast copy mode and active schedule. |
Copy modes
You control how much you copy on each side of a trade.
Buys
| Mode | How it works |
|---|---|
| Fixed $ | Spend the same dollar amount on every copied trade (e.g., always $25). |
| % of trader | Spend a percentage of the trader's trade size (e.g., 50% — if they spend $100, you spend $50). |
| Portfolio-weighted | Mirror the trader's conviction: your buy is the same fraction of your budget as their buy is of their portfolio. If they put 2% of their portfolio into a trade, you spend 2% of your budget. |
Portfolio-weighted requires a total budget to be set. Preddy tracks the trader's portfolio value (open positions plus available balance) and sizes each buy as budget × (their trade / their portfolio). The percentage field acts as a multiplier on that fraction — 100% is an exact mirror, 50% is half-size. If the trader's portfolio value is temporarily unknown, the buy is skipped rather than sized on a guess.
Sells
| Mode | How it works |
|---|---|
| Manual | Never auto-sell. You manage your own exits. |
| % of trader | Sell shares equal to a percentage of the amount the trader sold. |
| % of position | Sell the same fraction of your position as the trader sold of theirs — if they sell 30% of their position, you sell 30% of yours. The percentage acts as a multiplier (100% = exact mirror). |
| Full exit | Sell your entire position when the trader sells any amount. |
New strategies start on % of trader at 100%, so sells are copied by default. Choose Manual if you would rather manage exits yourself.
% of trader mirrors the trader's share count, which can exceed your holdings if your position is smaller than theirs. % of position scales to your own position, so it can never try to sell more than you hold. If the trader's position size is temporarily unknown, a position-weighted sell is skipped rather than sized on a guess.
Slippage protection
Under Advanced → Price Protection you set how far the price may move away from the trader's fill before your copy is abandoned. Buys and sells have their own field.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Max buy price move | Your buy is priced at the trader's fill plus this many cents. |
| Max sell price move | Your sell is priced at the trader's fill minus this many cents. |
If the market has moved further than that by the time your order is placed, the order does not fill and the trade is skipped rather than filled at a bad price.
New strategies start at 10¢ on both sides.
Leaving a field empty means zero headroom, not unlimited: the order is priced exactly at the trader's fill, so anything worse is skipped. Only the market price fallback retry mode submits without a price limit.
Trade sizing
Control the dollar limits on individual trades and positions.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Min buy size | Floor for a copied buy. A buy that comes out below it is either skipped or raised to the floor — see below. |
| Max buy size | Maximum dollar amount for any single copied buy. Larger buys are capped. |
| Max sell per trade | Maximum dollar value for any single copied sell (estimated at the trader's fill price). Larger sells are capped. |
| Max per market | Maximum total spend in any single market (condition). |
| Max per token | Maximum total spend on a specific Yes/No token within a market. |
Min buy size has two modes, chosen from the dropdown inside the field:
- Raise to min (the default once you enter a value) — an undersized buy is placed at the minimum instead of being passed over. Requires a minimum above $1, since nothing smaller can be placed at all.
- Skip below — the undersized buy is skipped, and nothing is placed.
The raise happens after the max is applied, so it can never push a buy past Max buy size; a minimum above the maximum skips instead.
Min buy size and Max buy size only appear for % of trader and Portfolio-weighted. A fixed size is already the exact per-buy amount, so bounds on it would do nothing.
Max sell per trade is offered for % of trader and % of position only. A Full exit sells the whole position by definition, so no per-trade cap is applied there.
Polymarket's minimum order is $1 — copied orders that would end up below $1 are skipped.
Trigger settings
Filter which leader trades are worth copying based on trade size and price.
Trader buy trigger
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Min | Ignore the trader's small buys — only copy buys above this dollar value. |
| Max | Ignore the trader's large buys — only copy buys below this dollar value. |
Trader sell trigger
Sells have their own separate pair, so your exits are never blocked by the buy thresholds. The fields appear only while sells are being copied.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Min | Only copy the trader's sells above this dollar value. |
| Max | Only copy the trader's sells below this dollar value. |
When both are unset (the default), every sell is copied regardless of size.
Entry price
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Min | Only copy buys where the token price is above this value (e.g., 20¢). |
| Max | Only copy buys where the token price is below this value (e.g., 80¢). |
Budget
Set guardrails to control how much your strategy can spend.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Total budget | Maximum total USDC the strategy can spend. Once reached, new buys stop. Sells return budget. |
| Daily budget | Maximum USDC the strategy can spend per day. |
| Daily budget timezone | The timezone whose midnight resets the daily budget. Defaults to your local timezone. |
Once a budget limit is reached, the strategy stops copying new buys but continues to copy sells if your sell mode is set to auto.
Auto-pause on drawdown
Automatically pause the strategy if your realized PnL drops too far from its peak. You can set the threshold as a dollar amount or as a percentage of budget (percentage requires budget to be set).
- Dollar threshold: pause if
peak_realized_pnl - current_realized_pnl >= $X. No budget required. - Percentage threshold: pause if the same drawdown exceeds X% of your budget.
If both are set, whichever triggers first pauses the strategy.
Only realized PnL (from closed/resolved positions) is considered — unrealized gains/losses from open positions are ignored, so temporary price fluctuations won't trigger a false pause.
Auto-pause on profit
Automatically pause the strategy once your realized PnL reaches a target. You can set the threshold as a dollar amount or as a percentage of budget.
- Dollar threshold: pause if
realized_pnl >= $X. - Percentage threshold: pause if
realized_pnl / budget * 100 >= X%.
Exposure
Control position concentration and diversification.
Each cap has its own on/off switch, and the two position caps can be entered either as a dollar amount or as a percentage of your budget (the % option appears once a budget is set).
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Max per market | Ceiling on what the strategy holds in one market (condition), in dollars or as a % of budget. |
| Max per outcome | Ceiling on what the strategy holds in a single Yes/No token inside a market, in dollars or as a % of budget. |
| Max open markets | Maximum number of markets the strategy can have open positions in at once. New markets are skipped until an existing position closes. |
Crypto market timing
Settings specific to crypto up/down prediction markets (e.g., "Will SOL go up in the next 5 minutes?"). These markets have known start and end times derived from their market slug.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Crypto up/down markets | Master toggle, under Advanced → Market Scope. When off, all crypto up/down markets are skipped entirely. |
| Durations | Choose which durations to trade: 5m, 15m, 1h, 4h, 1d. Unselected durations are skipped. |
| Wait after open — min | Don't trade until at least this many seconds have passed since the market opened. |
| Wait after open — max | Only trade within this many seconds after the market opens. |
| Before close — min | Stop trading when fewer than this many seconds remain before resolution. |
| Before close — max | Only trade when fewer than this many seconds remain before resolution. |
The four time fields can be combined to create precise trading windows. For example:
- Trade only in the middle: wait after open min = 60s, before close min = 60s (skip first and last minute).
- Trade only at the start: wait after open max = 60s (only trade in the first minute).
- Trade only near the end: before close max = 60s (only trade in the last minute).
These settings only affect buy decisions. Sells are always allowed regardless of timing, so you can exit positions you already hold.
Working hours
Advanced → System → Active Schedule restricts when your strategy is active, by time of day and day of week.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Active schedule | Master toggle. When off, the strategy runs 24/7. |
| Timezone | The timezone used for evaluating start/end time and working days. Defaults to your local timezone. |
| Start time | Earliest time of day the strategy will trade (HH:MM format). Default: 00:00. |
| End time | Latest time of day the strategy will trade (HH:MM format). Default: 23:59. |
| Working days | Which days of the week the strategy is active. By default all days are selected. |
Overnight ranges are supported — for example, start = 22:00 and end = 06:00 means the strategy is active from 10 PM to 6 AM. The schedule gates copied buys only; exits are always allowed, so a position is never stranded outside working hours.
Market filters
Category filters
Choose which market categories to include or exclude. For example, you could follow a trader but only copy their sports market trades, or exclude politics entirely.
| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| All | Copy trades in any category (default). |
| Include | Only copy trades in selected categories. |
| Exclude | Copy everything except selected categories. |
Volume and liquidity
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Min volume | Only copy trades in markets whose total traded volume is at least this much. |
| Min liquidity | Only copy trades when the live order book holds at least this much, in dollars, across both sides. |
Min liquidity is measured from the live Polymarket order book — the resting size on both sides, priced in dollars — and is read fresh at the moment of the trade. It used to be read from a delayed market feed on a different scale, so a value entered before this change does not mean what it used to. Re-enter it in real dollars.
Failure handling
Configure how the strategy retries when an order fails.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Max retry attempts | Number of times to retry a failed order. Set to 0 for no retries (default). |
| Retry timeout | Maximum wall-clock time (in seconds) allowed from the first attempt. If this duration is exceeded, no more retries are attempted regardless of remaining attempts. Default: 60 seconds. |
Retry pricing logic
When retrying, you can choose how the order price adjusts:
| Mode | How it works |
|---|---|
| Same price | Retry at the same price with the same slippage. |
| Widen per retry | Widen the price by a configurable number of cents per retry. For buys, the limit price increases; for sells, it decreases. This improves fill probability on each attempt. |
| Market price fallback | On retries, submit without a price limit — execute at whatever the current market price is. |
When using widen per retry, you can set the reduction per retry (in cents). For example, with 3¢ per retry: the first retry widens by 3¢, the second by 6¢, the third by 9¢, and so on.
Partial fills
Advanced → Execution Rules asks what to do if there is not enough liquidity to fill a copied order:
| Choice | What it does |
|---|---|
| Skip trade | The default. The order must fill in full or it is cancelled (Fill or Kill). |
| Fill available amount | Fill whatever liquidity is there, even if it is less than the full amount (Fill and Kill). |
Choosing Fill available amount then asks what to do with the unfilled remainder:
| Choice | What it does |
|---|---|
| Cancel rest | Keep the partial fill and drop the rest. |
| Try once more | Retry the unfilled portion. Requires retries to be configured (max retry attempts must be set). |
When a partial fill's remainder is abandoned (out of retry attempts or time), a warning is logged to your strategy's log feed so you can see exactly how much was filled vs. skipped.
System features
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Auto-redeem | Winning tokens are redeemed automatically when a market resolves via Polymarket's on-chain auto-redeem. This is an account-level setting (enabled by default), not a per-strategy toggle — the strategy just records the redemption and updates your P&L. |
| Fast copy mode | React to the trader's orders as soon as they're detected in the mempool, before on-chain confirmation. Enabled by default on new strategies. |
Fast copy mode (pending fills) is faster but carries a small risk of copying a trade that doesn't end up confirming. Turn it off under Advanced → System if you would rather wait for on-chain confirmation.
Position tracking and P&L
Preddy tracks every position opened by a strategy in real time:
- Average buy price — weighted average across all buys for that position.
- Unrealized P&L — how much you'd gain or lose if you sold at the current price.
- Realized P&L — actual profit or loss from completed sells and redemptions.
- Budget spent — net USDC spent (buys minus sells). Visible in strategy settings.
- Daily spent — net USDC spent today. Resets daily.
- Peak PnL — the highest total PnL your strategy has reached (used for drawdown calculations).
Both position-level and strategy-level P&L update as market prices move.
Manual sells
You can sell a copytrading position manually at any time. If you hold the same token across multiple strategies, your manual sell is distributed proportionally — each strategy's position is reduced based on its share of your total holdings.
Market resolution
When a market resolves, Preddy handles settlement automatically:
- Winning tokens are redeemed at $1.00.
- Losing tokens are closed at $0.00.
- Your realized P&L updates accordingly.
No action needed — resolution is processed for you.
Archiving strategies
You can archive a strategy you no longer need. Archived strategies are disabled and hidden from your strategy list. The strategy's trade history and positions are preserved but no new trades will be copied.
Requirements
Copytrading requires offline signing to be enabled, since trades execute on your behalf when you may not be online. See wallet security for how your keys are protected.
