Detailed Guide
Automatically sell your position when the price drops to a level you set.
Stop losses protect your positions from further downside. Set a trigger price, and Preddy will automatically sell your shares if the market drops to that level — no need to watch the market yourself.
How it works
Open a position
Buy tokens in any prediction market on Preddy.
Set a stop loss
Choose a trigger price and the number of shares you want to sell if that price is hit.
Stay protected
Preddy monitors every trade in that market in real time. The moment the price drops to or below your trigger, your sell order executes automatically.
Configuration
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Trigger price | The price at or below which your stop loss activates. |
| Size | Number of shares to sell. Can be your full position or just a portion. |
Multiple stop losses
You can set multiple stop losses on the same token at different price levels. For example:
- Sell half your position at $0.40
- Sell the rest at $0.25
The only restriction is that the combined size across all stop losses can't exceed your total position.
Pending fills
By default, stop losses trigger on confirmed trades — orders finalized on-chain. You can enable pending fills to react faster, triggering as soon as a matching trade is detected before final confirmation.
Pending fills are faster but carry a small risk of triggering on a trade that doesn't end up confirming.
Execution
When a stop loss triggers, Preddy places a market sell order at the minimum price to maximize the chance of a full fill. If the order fails (e.g., due to a temporary balance issue), Preddy retries automatically.
Stop losses currently execute as market orders only. Limit order support is coming soon.
Partial fills
If the market doesn't have enough liquidity to fill your entire stop loss at once:
- The filled portion sells immediately.
- The remaining shares stay active and trigger again the next time the price condition is met.
- Your stop loss shows as partially filled until fully executed.
The price shown is the weighted average across all fills.
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | Monitoring the market, waiting for the trigger price. |
| Filled | Fully executed — all shares sold. |
| Partially filled | Some shares sold, the rest still active. |
| Cancelled | Cancelled by you or automatically by the system (see below). |
When a stop loss gets cancelled
A stop loss can be cancelled in the following cases:
You cancel it manually
You can cancel any active or partially filled stop loss at any time from your portfolio.
The market resolves
If a market resolves while you have an active stop loss, it is automatically cancelled. Resolution settles your position directly — winning tokens pay $1.00 and losing tokens pay $0.00 — so a stop loss is no longer needed.
Your position no longer exists
Preddy periodically validates your stop losses against your actual positions. If you no longer hold the token (e.g., you sold it manually or through copytrading), any stop losses on that token are automatically cancelled.
Your position is smaller than the stop loss
If your position size drops below the total size covered by your stop losses (e.g., you sold part of your position), Preddy adjusts automatically:
- Stop losses are prioritized by trigger price — higher trigger prices are kept first.
- Stop losses that don't fit within your remaining position are cancelled.
- If a stop loss partially fits, its size is reduced to match what's available.
Position validation runs periodically in the background. There may be a short delay before stop losses are adjusted after a position change.
Requirements
Stop losses require offline signing to be enabled, since sell orders execute on your behalf when you may not be online. See wallet security for how your keys are protected.
